Werda
It is where the journey begins.
Werda was built in 1936 and opened in October that same year. The funding of the building cost was a joint venture between the school board and the government. The total cost of the hostel was 3600 pounds and the hostel could accommodate 36 pupils. In the annual report of 1936, as published in the school annual, it is merely stated that a new hostel was built and that it is known as the Grade 8 hostel. The name Werda was only awarded in later years.
Elke jaar word sowat 58 seuns in graad 8 aanvaar.
As a school we are very fortunate and privileged to host our Grade 8 boys in one hostel. This makes the adaptation process towards finding your feet in high school and hostel life much easier.
Fun and games will always be part of a Werda boys’ life. Vandaar ons spreekwoord : “HEELTYD SPEELTYD”
