David Frost Gimnasium

The school’s first gym was in the Berlyn building, the present location of the school’s museum.

Pierre Conradie from Ceres, whose sons Stefan, Kobus and JP were scholars at PBHS, donated money for the first functional apparatus in the gym. It was primitive, but gave rise to the idea of a complete gymnasium.

David Frost, Old Boy and famous golf player, donated $15 000 earned from his victory at the Buick Classic with the request that it be appropriated for erecting PBHS’s first complete gymnasium. At that stage the value of this donation was R90 000. Mr Richard Visagie persuaded Pieter Pienaar, Boys’ High parent and owner of Koeberg builders, to build this gymnasium. Mr Pienaar agreed to do this for the amount of R90 000 although his quotation was R350 000. He did this out of gratitude for what the school has meant for his son Pieter Jr.
